AN UNUSUAL INSTRUMENTAL TRIO FORMED IN 2018 WITH A TENOR SAXOPHONE, A BARITONE SAXOPHONE AND A DRUMMER, IT WORKS JUST AS WELL ACOUSTIC AS AMPLIFIED.
Although VOLT is often compared to the New York trio Too Many Zooz, the band quickly forged its own identity through the muscular delivery of 100% original compositions. Combining catchy melodies and frantic rhythms, the trio's compositions draw as much on jazz as on techno, on raw brass band sound as on electro : the DRUM'n'SAX style was born.
In its acoustic version, VOLT can not only play its set on stage or at a set location, but can also roam thanks to a special drum kit mounted on a cart that the drummer moves while playing. Punchy and urban, the result is stunning and wins over audiences at every performance.
In its amplified stage version, the sound system enhances VOLT's organic power. The subwoofers reinforce the bass/kick drum combo and really bring out the trio's techno influence. It works dangerously well late at night for anyone wanting to enter the DRUM'n'SAX trance.
